One mouse tried to run away today. He went under the cabinets. My brother saw the mouse with his flashlight. Our friend Lauren got him out. We named that mouse Scamper.

Ohmygosh, you guys, how cool is it to see an animal's eyes opening for the very first time?! We had a little, short play date with some of the same girls that came over earlier this week. We put all the mice out on a towel and realized that a few of them had slightly opened eyes. The more they ran around and played and we picked them up, the more they opened! The black one with the white dot on his head (one of my favorites) probably has the most opened eyes, but it's hard to tell because his face and eyes are the same shade of black.
I SEEEEEEEE you!
The silver one has his (her?) eyes slightly open as well.
OK, her/his eyes don't actually LOOK open in this shot, but they totally are. A little.
We had already named the beige-ish colored mouse Scamper after he made umpteen trips off the towel, narrowly avoiding being squashed by various knees, butts, and whatnot. But no one was prepared for Scamper to motor right underneath our large cabinet. It took various children, some flashlights, and finally a kid's arm to get him out from under there. One of the kids told me, "You might want to clean under there sometime." HA! I totally might! But, you know, later....
After today's episode, I doubt we will have all the mice out together again. It's gotten too hard to keep track of them!
We do not lack excitement in our house :)

I'm so sorry, Traci! I accidentally deleted your comment! I'm not sure what all the colors are. One is orange, two are black, one is silver, and the rest are a cream type of color. Those are the ones I'm not sure of. We can't see all the eyes yet either. I'll do a full description soon. Now we need to see who are girls and who are boys!
ReplyDeleteThis was Traci's comment: Loving the ongoing commentary :) It's amazing how much they can do already! What are the final colors that came in? on I've got my eye on you!

The pups are doing great. But now comes the hard part, them running off and hitting the floor all the time. A great way to hold a pup is gently hold the tail between two finger. Stops them from flying off and doesn't pinch. If you have time i can come by to sex them. The should be easy to tell now.
ReplyDeleteI like the silver.
:D
